One of the biggest annoyances of current MMOs is that the developers don’t like the private server community and generally have a dim view on mods. To make matters worse, they can easily delete or rollback the game state which means that any and all characters can be seriously impacted. With decentralized gaming there is another way. Communities can be preserved via forks.
Decrypt Media recently interview Kijun Seo of Planetarium to get his views on launching a decentralized game. Nine Chronciles, as we’ve reported before, is an open-source fully decentralized MMO. While the Planetarium team are the devs in the beginning, at some point the community will take over and govern where the game and its chain go.
